According to the report, in the first five months of the year, the trade relationship between Mexico and its northern neighbor amounts to $262,812 million dollars, with $153,416 million dollars in imports and $109,396 million dollars in exports.

Mexico continued to be the First Trade Partner of the United States, according to the exchange reports from January to May 2021, published this Friday by the Ministry of Economy.

Through her social media channels, Luz María de la Mora, Mexico's Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, expressed, "More reasons to celebrate! Just one day after celebrating the first anniversary of the USMCA, once again, we have positioned ourselves as the main trading partner of the U.S.”.

The official accompanied her message with an image of the latest balance of trade exchanges from January to May 2021 involving the United States and its top five global partners.

Trade Figures

According to the report, in the first five months of the year, the trade relationship between Mexico and its northern neighbor amounted to $262,812 million dollars, with $153,416 million dollars in imports and $109,396 million dollars in exports.

Meanwhile, Canada engaged in exchanges worth $257,934 million dollars, with $121,825 million in exports and $136,109 million in imports.

China closely followed as the third-largest trading partner of the United States, totaling $248,674 million dollars during the first five months of the year, with $189,689 million in imports and $58,985 million in exports.

Meanwhile, Japan reported exports of $30,324 million dollars and imports of $55,704 million dollars, totaling $86,028 million dollars in trade with the United States.

Finally, the relationship with Germany resulted in exchanges amounting to $80,050 million dollars, with exports of $26,149 million dollars and imports of $53,902 million dollars.
